Can Claude check gas prices today?

Yes with web search, with one caution. Gas prices change every week, so from training data alone Claude does not have this week's number. With web search on, Claude can find a price, but news stories and app pages often show a different figure from the official average, sometimes without the date. Connect the free Gas Prices Today server and Claude reads the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) weekly retail price survey when you ask. Regular gasoline in the U.S. averaged $4.153 a gallon in the week of 2026-11-02 (down $0.116 from the week before, down $0.201 from four weeks ago, $3.019 a year ago). Source: U.S. Energy Information Administration weekly retail price survey, released 2026-11-03; next release 2026-11-10.

Is this the price at my gas station?
No. EIA reports an average from a retail survey. Station prices vary by brand and street, so use the average to see the level and the trend, not the number on the pump.
Why is my state not priced directly?
EIA prices nine states and ten cities directly. For any other state the server returns the EIA region that contains it and says so, for example West Coast for Arizona.
Is the server free?
