Can Claude keep a mileage log?

Partly. Claude can total the miles in a list you paste and multiply by a rate, and with code execution on (the default on Free, Pro and Max) it can build a mileage log spreadsheet. That file grows only when you upload it again and ask for a new version. Connect the Mileage Log server (free token) and Claude logs each drive as business, medical, moving, charitable or personal, prices it at the rate you set for the day it was driven, and totals the deductible amount for any period. No rate ships with it, so you enter the one you use.

What Claude does alone, and what needs the server

Claude on its own

  • Totals the miles in a list you paste.
  • Builds a mileage log spreadsheet when code execution is on.

With the Mileage Log server

  • A dated log of every drive with its purpose.
  • Each trip priced at the rate in force on its day.
  • Personal trips kept on record and left out of the total.

Tool call

mileage_summary {"from_date":"2026-10-01","to_date":"2026-10-31"}

A business rate of USD 0.76 a mile from 1 July 2026 was entered with rate_set, and three October trips were logged first. The rate is a figure you enter, so check it against what your tax authority publishes. The server answers in JSON. This is a shortened copy, and every field shown is unchanged.

Can Claude keep a mileage log?

Does it know the IRS rate?
No. No rate ships with this server. You set the rate per category and the date it starts, and each trip is priced at the rate in force on its day.
What is free, and what does Pro add?
Twenty trips a calendar month, one rate per jurisdiction and category, the trip list and the summary are free. Pro is $19 once for the Mileage Log server, or $39 once for all 49 servers. It adds unlimited trips, a dated series of rates and the CSV export for your accountant.
Is the server free?
The hosted Mileage Log server has a free tier. A free token lasts 30 days and allows 600 calls an hour, with no account. Some features are Pro, and the server page lists what is free and what is not.
