What it knows that a model doesn't

A model answers from training data. This server reads the source when you ask.

  • The COLA for 2027 (3.6 percent, paid from January 2027) and every year back to 1996, with the Federal Register notice and date.
  • Your full retirement age from your birth date, the earliest month you can claim, the cut at 62 and the credits to 70, by the CFR rules.
  • The 2027 taxable maximum, earnings test limits and what the earnings test withholds for your own earnings.

Sources SSA "Cost-of-Living Increase and Other Determinations" notices in the Federal Register (2027 notice 2026-21796, published 2026-10-26), read through the Federal Register API; 20 CFR 404.102, 404.311, 404.409 and 404.410 through the eCFR API.

Questions

Is the social Security COLA 2027 MCP server free?
Yes. The hosted URL is free and needs no token, key or account. The source is open on GitHub.
Why not just ask the model?
A model answers from its training data. That data stops at a cutoff date, and long sums can drift. This server reads its data or rules each time you ask, so the answer is current and exact.
Where does the data come from?
SSA "Cost-of-Living Increase and Other Determinations" notices in the Federal Register (2027 notice 2026-21796, published 2026-10-26), read through the Federal Register API; 20 CFR 404.102, 404.311, 404.409 and 404.410 through the eCFR API.
Which apps can use it?
Any MCP client that accepts a remote server URL: Claude.ai and Claude Desktop custom connectors, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and others. You can also run it locally with npx.
