What it knows that a model doesn't

A model answers from training data. This server reads the source when you ask.

  • The latest EIA weekly residential heating oil and propane price per gallon for the US, an EIA region or a surveyed state, with the week date, the change from last week and the price a year ago.
  • Weekly price history between two dates, with the high, low and average.
  • The cost of a delivery at the state average or your own price, and heating oil against propane per million Btu. These are state averages, not a dealer quote.

Sources U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) weekly heating oil and propane survey tables and weekly history pages (eia.gov), read at call time, and EIA heat contents for the Btu comparison.

estimate_heating_fuel_cost Estimate heating fuel cost. Cost of a heating oil or propane delivery (gallons times this week's EIA average for the state, or a given price), the cost per million Btu, and a comparison of heating oil and propane per million Btu at the same area's averages.

Yes. The hosted URL is free and needs no token, key or account. The source is open on GitHub.
Why not just ask the model?
A model answers from its training data. That data stops at a cutoff date, and long sums can drift. This server reads its data or rules each time you ask, so the answer is current and exact.
