Example from "Log a day without a timer app". Invented names, real math from the tools.

Start and stop a timer by asking, or log time you forgot to track. Each project has its own hourly rate and currency. At month end you get a timesheet, a CSV for your bookkeeper and invoice-ready lines, and billed hours are stamped so you never bill them twice.

Example done on the free tier. Doing this every week? Pro removes the limit for $19, once. Free vs Pro

  1. Example 1 · Clara Weiss, freelance UX researcher in Vienna, AustriaLog a day without a timer app

Start a timer on Bergbahn app, task interviews, 95 euros an hour. ... Stop it. Also log 1.5 hours yesterday on Bergbahn for the report write-up.
    • timer_start Starts the stopwatch on Bergbahn at EUR 95/h
    • timer_stop Logs 2 h 40 min as one entry: EUR 253.33
    • entry_add Adds the 90-minute entry from yesterday: EUR 142.50

Two entries on Bergbahn totalling 4 h 10 min and EUR 395.83, each with the rate frozen on the entry.

Saves about 5 min (our estimate)

  2. Example 2 · Tom Reynolds, freelance web developer in Sheffield, UKTurn the week into invoice lines

Give me invoice lines for Northside Dental for this week, then mark them billed as invoice 2026-031.
    • invoice_summary Builds one line per task and rate: 9.5 h build at GBP 60, 2 h support at GBP 45
    • entry_mark_billed Stamps those entries with invoice 2026-031

Lines totalling GBP 660.00, ready to paste into the invoice. Those hours no longer appear in the next summary.

Saves about 20 min (our estimate)

  3. Example 3 · Magdalena Kaczmarek, translator billing three agencies from Wroclaw, PolandMonthly timesheet for the accountant

Set my rate for Lingua Pro to 120 zl an hour. Show October hours by project and export the timesheet to CSV.
    • project_set_rate Sets Lingua Pro to PLN 120/h
    • report Shows October hours and money grouped by project (full month needs Pro)
    • export_csv Writes a CSV with one row per entry

October: 64 h across three agencies, 7,680 PLN at Lingua Pro, plus a CSV file path to send to her accountant.

Saves about 30 min (our estimate)

Jobs this server does

All tools (12)

ToolWhat it does
entry_addLog time already worked as one entry and return its id, duration and amount.
entry_deleteDelete one logged entry by id and report the project and hours removed.
entry_editChange one logged entry by id; only the fields you pass move.
entry_listList logged entries as a table of id, day, start, project, task, hours, billable, tags and note, newest first, with total hours.
entry_mark_billedClose the loop after an invoice is issued: stamp the tracked hours that went on it with the invoice number, so report and invoice_summary stop offering them and the same hours are never billed twice.
export_csvCall this tool to export the timesheet to a CSV file (excel-friendly) you can hand to a bookkeeper: one row per entry with hours, billable, rate, currency and amount.
invoice_summaryTurn tracked billable time into invoice lines for one project: hours, hourly rate, amount per task and the total, one line per rate so two rates never average.
project_set_rateSet the hourly rate and currency used to turn tracked hours into money for a project or client.
reportTimesheet report: total tracked hours and billable money for a period, optionally grouped by (group by) project, day, task or tag - hours per project, how much to bill.
timer_startStart a stopwatch for work on a project and return the start time.
timer_statusReport the running timer and today's total hours.
timer_stopStop the running timer and log it as one entry.

Questions

Where are my hours stored?
On the local install, in the server's data folder on your machine. On the hosted URL, on the server under your token for 30 days, refreshed on every write. No account either way.
Can I use different currencies per client?
Yes. Each project has its own rate and currency, for example EUR, USD, GBP or PLN. Totals are given per currency.
What stops me on the free tier?
Reports and invoice lines read the last 7 days only, you can store 100 entries, and 2 projects can have rates. A freelancer who bills monthly will hit the 7-day window.
