Can Cursor edit Word documents?

Yes, two ways. A .docx is a zipped XML package, and Cursor's editor works on text files. The agent can script an edit, and a DOCX server reads the document and writes a new one for you.

Cursor's editor can't open a .docx as text, but its agent can script an edit. The DOCX server reads Word files, fills templates and writes new .docx files from markdown inside Cursor.

Cursor can't open a .docx in its editor as text. The agent can patch the XML or use python-docx in a script, which can lose formatting.

The DOCX server reads the text and heading outline of a .docx, fills {{placeholders}} in a template, writes a .docx from markdown and converts a .docx to HTML. It runs over stdio in Cursor and writes a new file each time.
